This song was inspired by an early morning spent chilling out in the hot tub, and appreciating what a tiny part I am of everyone and everything. Most of us are completely inconsequential except to the people we love.

This recording from 2007, mangobananas studios, Ithaca, NY. I recorded everything myself, with programmed sampled drums, sampled piano, real bass, real acoustic guitar, and probably a dozen vocal tracks. Jon Morse then did a super job overdubbing, replacing the computer drums with his real drum kit.

This is from the album 'refresher'. There's also an older recording of the song from 1998 here, from soon after it was written.

I've played this song a lot at the Skunk Hollow Tavern open mic, Wednesday nights in Hartland Four Corners, VT. My friend Woody always refers to it as "the hot tub song", and says that the song inspired him to get his own hot tub.

Thanks for listening!

everything

everything's a little blurry right now
cause I forgot my glasses on the way to the hot tub
it's six-thirty on a Sunday morning
I'm too horny to sleep and she's not up for it
so I'm
	vegging out, yeah I'm
	spacing out, yeah I'm
	chilling out, yeah I'm
	feeling out of my mind

everything turns into arguments these days
seems like it shouldn't have to be such a struggle
there's too much hurrying and worrying
but I don't care anymore here I am unwound
yeah I'm
	vegging out, yeah I'm
	spacing out, yeah I'm
	chilling out, yeah I'm
	feeling out of my mind

		I know I'm such a tiny part
		of everyone and everything

everything sucks, everything's great
am I on time, or am I late
spin into view, the sun's heat
feeling renewed, feeling beat
it comes and goes, unrealized
the moment flows, the mind resized
then it gets away and it's time for a new day

		I know I'm such a tiny part
		of everyone and everything
