This song is lyrically unusual in that I wrote it in the third person, but I think it might be about me. It really gets to the Big Question of life: "what do you want to do? who do you want to be?"

From the album also called 'leave a trace'. Written and recorded in 1996, mangobananas studios, Ithaca, NY. All sounds by me except Jon Morse on drum kit (loops from some EBA improv jams).

Thanks for listening!

leave a trace

he's got a book
filled with words
and little drawings
the absurd awkward ramblings
		of a well-twisted man
		trying to leave a trace
		doing what he can
which amounts to slightly
better than nothing
babbling and scribbling
he found it rather frightning
		to see his well-twisted mind
		trying to leave a trace
		no one will ever find
and then there's these songs
improvised or crafted
he made ripples in the air
that sounded quite fantastic
		songs of a well-twisted man
		trying to leave a trace
		doing what he can

everybody wants to be somebody
everybody has a dream
what do you want to do
who do you want to be
