Skunk Zooms

Andy has been participating in the Skunk Hollow Tavern Open Mic since April 2011. It has been a staple of the Upper Valley music scene for over 30 years, and normally happens on Wednesday nights. The last open mic before the COVID-19 pandemic was on 11 March 2020.

From April - June 2020, we had weekly open mics on Tuesday nights on Zoom, with a simulstream to Facebook Live. From July - October 2020, we held the open mic outside in the Skunk's new outdoor seating area next to their garden.

From February - May 2021, we went back to Zoom -> Facebook Live every other week. Then back in the garden again from May - October 2021.

There were no virtual Skunk open mic sessions during the winter of 2021-2022. We were back in the garden again from May - September 2022.

There were no virtual Skunk open mic sessions during the winter of 2022-2023. In May 2023 we started back up in the garden, but when the weather wasn't good, we got to play indoors again.

Of course, over the Internet, the laws of physics make collaboration, accompaniment, and harmonization next-to-impossible, so we took turns playing a song and everyone else would mute. To help the atmosphere, David Baldwin cued up actual recordings of Skunk applause between songs, and occasional crowd chatter.
